El Boom
One of the most famous waves in Northern Nicaragua.
Just a short distance from Aluna lies El Boom, a powerful beach break known for its fast and hollow waves. The peak breaks both left and right and can deliver long, barreling rides when the conditions line up.
The wave works best on mid to high tide and attracts surfers from around the world looking for heavy barrels.
Level: Advanced to Expert

Nahualapa
For more relaxed sessions, Nahualapa offers a friendlier wave with several peaks across the bay.
The wave is known for long rides and softer sections, making it a great spot for progression and more relaxed surf sessions.
Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Aposentillo
A short drive from Aluna, Aposentillo offers one of the most beginner-friendly waves in the region. The long beach creates soft and consistent peaks that are ideal for learning to surf or improving fundamental skills. Compared to the powerful beach breaks around Aserradores, the waves here are generally more forgiving and easier to read.
This makes Aposentillo a great spot for beginners and longboarders.

La Isla
A short boat ride away, La Isla offers a completely different type of wave.
This left-hand point break can handle a wide range of swell sizes and works on most tides, creating long and smooth rides along the point.
It’s a beautiful wave for surfers who enjoy flowing turns and longer rides.

Jiquillio Beach
A quiet and uncrowded beach break that can handle bigger swells and still offer fun peaks along the beach.
This is a great option for surfers looking for space and empty waves.
